Preventative Dentistry in Bedford
The Canadian Dental Association recommends regular professional cleaning and dental examinations to prevent cavities and gum disease. Regular preventative dental appointments help reduce the buildup of plaque and tartar on your teeth and it allows the early detection of conditions before they become serious.
At a minimum, you should have your teeth cleaned once a year, although we recommend a cleaning every six months. Your hygienist will remove the plaque and tartar from your teeth, including in areas where brushing and flossing can’t reach. We may also recommend fluoride treatment to protect your enamel from decay.
Regular exams help us spot problems before they become serious. We’ll examine your teeth, mouth, and gums and check for early signs of decay or infection. We’ll also screen you for oral cancer, a potentially deadly cancer that affects thousands of Canadians every year.
